We had planned to go camping this weekend although when we realized it was Cody’s 1st Birthday we postponed it until next weekend (fingers crossed).
We spent the day around the house dibbling and dabbling in gardening and minor home improvements, the warm overcast Kona weather made it pleasurable to be outside.
After Darwin’s nap we geared up for Cody’s party, it was hot and muggy down at the Abreau household in Kuau but we all handled it well. The kids kicked off their clothes and splashed in the water while some parents indulged in icy cold Budd Light lime beers, I chose to sip on a glass of water. It was a great afternoon/early evening, the kids all got along really well. Darwin was especially fond of Kaipo who must now be 10 or 11, he really enjoyed eating dinner with all the kids at the table and looked so grown up sitting there all by himself on a big chair using a fork to eat his chicken nuggets.
Time for bed now, I ate too much cake and ice-cream.

Dre left on Monday for his England/France/DR tour, Darwin was sad to see him go after a couple of weeks of good hang time. It won’t be long before he’s back to join the family again, he’s great company.
Today was my day off again and Darwin’s 6th day of daycare, I was able to enjoy a walk along the beach and then a coffee and sweet crepe at the cafe with Jason and a relaxing afternoon at home. Darwin had a great day with Kelly and two other kids, he didn’t cry all day, ate all his lunch and even slept on the floor instead of in the crib. When I picked him up just after 4pm we played at home for a bit before heading to Ho’okipa where we met up with Kev and Racy for a beach BBQ.
Kev had prepared some delicious grinds for us and made sure the sun set perfectly behind the trees. There were plenty of surfers out in the good sized clean sets, I wish I could be surfing Pavills looked perfect.
Thanks Kev and Racy, hopefully we’ll get to BBQ and camp together soon!

This morning I got the scissors in hand and gave Darwin his first real haircut, short back and sides. He’s had a few front and back trims but the time had come for those long curls to retire.
He looks like a real little boy, I’m rather pleased with my cutting ability I had my doubts but now have the confidence to do it again when the time comes.
Judge for yourself.

This afternoon we took a little break from the average evening.
We went to Paia Bay for a swim while watching the sun set then ate dinner at the Cafe. We were so excited to go for a family swim, Darwin kept expressing the love for his newest word: Beach, it was adorable as he repeated it over and over and pointed at the ocean. For dinner he gobbled down an entire spinach and feta crepe while Jason and I shared a platter and shrimp curry then a sweet crepe and espresso! The girls took such good care of us and the food was amazing, I really appreciated the fact that I didn’t have to lift a finger or clean up. What a treat eating out is…when your child behaves.

Darwin has now been going to Daycare one day a week for 5 weeks, he seems to be coping just fine although he doesn’t seem to eat or drink too much throughout the day but I’m sure with time that will improve. Today I used my “alone” time to buy supplies for one of our rentals which I will spend cleaning tomorrow and the next day before the new tenants arrive on Saturday. Sometimes I wish we just had our house and ourselves to be concerned with, having rentals is difficult during this time.
Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment, I am in the 14th week. I’m looking forward to hearing the heart beat for the first time.
Dre is still here with us, we’ve been eating dinner on the couch and watching a movie most nights but still making it to bed before 9pm. Darwin just loves having him here and Dre really enjoys the moments they share, it’s really nice that they have a good come and go relationship. Jazz, Brett and the boys get here in almost 3 weeks which is very exciting. It’s going to be great having them stay with us and I’m sure the week will go by much too fast. Rog has also just announced he has the green flag for a 6 month visa, were not sure just yet how long he will stay but he’s planning on coming out in November!!!
At this rate the whole family will be here visiting and we will be one baby a bigger family ourselves, I can’t wait to see Darwin as an older brother. He is too adorable and growing up so much by the day, he now also says No, Yes, Cow, Owie. He claps when you say Birthday, eats a huge bowl of porridge with his spoon, feeds the goats grass in the morning and wades into the water up to his neck all by himself. And my favorite newest thing is that he is sleeping 6:30pm - 6/6:30am sometimes even 6:45am!!! He sometimes misses the morning nap and most days sleeps 1 hour during the day.
