I have only good things to say about this “Controlled Comforting” method. We are on our third day and already Darwin has napped almost 2 hours during the day and 12 hours at night both days. He woke every now and then then put himself back to sleep within minutes, we have had great sleeps too and Darwin is still waking up so so so happy which makes us stoked. These set nap times (9:30amish and 2:30pmish) are a dream. It’s great to not have to rush about and shower, wash the dishes, put a load of laundry on all while he’s awake and wanting me to play. We’ve been walking, playing outside in the yard and playground down the road and visiting friends after his naps and I love giving him almost 100% of my attention then. When he naps it’s really nice to have “my time” and with the set bedtime of 7:30pm Jason and I have even been able to have “us time’ and it’s only the beginning!!!

  1. Yeah naps! Yeah good sleeps! I’m so glad the “controlled comforting” is working, we gave it try but it seems that Kawika is a get really worked up type when crying vs. a wear myself out and go back to sleep type so the week we gave it a try was a frustrating one for all. Thankfully we figure out a solution and yup once they start sleeping, really sleeping, it’s the best! A little Mommy time and Mommy & Daddy time really does a lot to help a mum feel human again doesn’t it? I was a little worried when we went down from 2 naps to 1 but sometimes Kawika will nap for 2-3 hours so talk about time to get stuff done! I’ll be very sad when he stops napping altogether.
