PACKING UP

Our bags are packed, were ready to go. Tody we are off to Oahu to stay with Ma and Pa for a day and a half before our big trip Down Under.

I am pretty sure Darwin will be crawling as soon as we get to “The Beach House” in Caloundra, he is progressing at an extraordinary rate (so we believe anyhow). However his sleep patterns are driving me up the wall. I’m coming to terms with them and trying a few different things to get him on the right track. One suggestion was to not let him nap after 3pm, I did this yesterday. I fed him dinner (sweet potato) at 6pm, bathed at 6:30pm, JC read him a few books in bed and tried to give him a bottle afterwards (this is the 4th day of refusing a bottle) I breast fed him at 7:15pm and by 7:30pm he was snug in his crib.

It’s 6:30am and I’m lying on the floor with Darwin, he is in a great mood as always talking and playing very happily. Last night he woke at 8pm still hungry then again at 8:30pm when I just held him to settle him, he slept through until 2:30am which was great but then again at 4:30am. I feed him both times and he went right back to sleep like usual and then woke very happy at what seems to be his regular wake up time, 6am.

I don’t feel sleep deprived or anything (I usually go to bed when he does) and don’t mind waking at 6am despite it being winter and it not getting light outside until 6:45am. I’m just curious, “is he teething?”, “is this another growing spurt?”, “do I have enough milk to fill him up?”, “does he just want me during the night?”. Guess it would be perfect if he could talk, should work on that after all he certainly has very good set of lungs (talking not crying).

Well today will be the beginning of a whole new set of questions as we embark on our first 1 month holiday as a Family! To infinity and beyond.

  1. If we don’t get the chance to get together before you head off on your big adventure - Have a great time! The nap advice is spot on, there is ALWAYS hell to pay around here if Kawika takes a late nap (lately we try and keep him up rather than risk a late nap). No assive on the whole sleep thing, we had the same troubles, I guess it helps to know that you’re not the only one? I think it’s the trifecta of growing, teething, and all kinds of developmental stuff, our little guys are just so busy they can’t seem to turn it off. For us it got better permanently when Kawika was around 14 months (or 16 months - don’t remember now), prior to that we’d have a few bad weeks then a few good weeks. Hang in there you sound like you’re completely on top of things and hey it’s always a good excuse to take a nap with you little love.
