FARWELL MONA VALE
Another earily morning rise with the Kookaburras laughing in the tree outside our room, I’m so excited to start every day!
Yesterday was another day worthy of relaxation, it was tea and toast for breaky then off to the beach.
Sunday is "Little Nippers" day at every beach with a Surf Life Saving Club all over Australia. It’s ages 5 - 10 and they learn all about the surf, beach, race and swim against eachother and later move up to junior lifegards and compete against other Surf Clubs. It’s super cute to see all the kids so eager to learn and the parents are really envolved. I lay under the umbrella people watching while JC went for a surf, the water is still pretty fresh but goes perfectly with the air temperature.
Gordon took us into town to buy an air mattress and a couple of plates and bowls, our camping set is complete! We ducked into a bakery for our first meat pie and sausage roll (very yummy but not as good as Karens Home made sausage rolls!). The pool called our names when we arrived home so we realxed by it, Sammy (Gins older sister) her husband Pete and their three girls came home soon after so we mucked about with the kids while we waited for the day to cool down so we could hike to the Barenjoey Lighthouse.
Gordon and Karen escorted us up the hot rocky bush path to the top where the grand lighthouse stood tall. The views to the North and South were stunning and we welcomed the cool breeze. We took the steep "Smuglers Trail" down and came across our first snake along the way, it just slithered across the path not bothered by us.
The day was toped off by a delicious family BBQ followed by a few episodes of the clasic Aussie sitcom "Kath & Kim" It had to be done, just for you Ginny! "Look at Moi!".
Reluctantly we are leaving The Smiths Mona Vale Palace this morning, we are however excited to explore the East Coast especially since we now have a super maped out plan of attack thanks to Pete! Gordon and Karen, we can’t thankyou enough. You are both SUPER AMAZING and we hope to see you again soon, LOVE YA!
Looking foward to catching up. Be a cheap shout. Only have to buy Jason beers. David
