SHABU SHABU

Tuesday night Jason and I ate dinner at our Japanese friends Hero and Aki’s house. Aki made us a traditional Japanese meal called “Shabu Sharbu” (no doubt my spelling is wrong but it is pronounced this way.
It was delishious and so much fun.

In the centre of the table they had a small cook top, on it was a big bowl filled with water, rice noodles, shitaki mushrooms, cabbage, green onions and tofu. In front of us was frozen steak sliced very thinly with a meat slicer and a small bowl with some yummy soy sauce mix.
To begin eating you grab a piece of meat with your chop sticks and dip it in the hot water soup mix, this is the shabu sharbu part. (Aparently in Japan is has no meaning, it is simply the motion of dipping the meat. It’s great cos everyone eats from the same bowl and it’s very healthy.

Wednesday night JC felt inspird by the healthy cooking a wipped us up a delishious piece of sceared Ahi with steemed vegies acompanied by a lot of alcohol. We havent been on the booze so much lately, so much work for me!
